Balaam

Balaam consistently resisted the powerful king’s bribes and intimidation to curse Israel (Numbers 22:15-17). Instead, he courageously prophesied blessing upon the nation. Nevertheless, in the New Testament he is emblematic of leaders who turn away from God (2 Peter 2:15; Jude 1:11; Revelation 2:14) because he later led the Israelites into sin (Numbers 31:16).
